Pastoral Care

Attentive, non-judgemental and careful listening is the largest part of my counselling services. I ensure you have defined the problem areas in your own terms and help you to define what you wish to do next.
Many of our problems arise just because we are human. We all make mistakes and have to learn from them, and it is normal to need several goes before we get something right.
My counselling is based in the belief that most people naturally strive to make the best use of themselves and that when something goes wrong, it is usually because we are pushing ourselves too hard, because we are in a muddle for reasons we don’t fully understand or because we are actually are suffering some form of distress which is distorting our view of reality.
Counselling is one of the most commonly known and widely used forms of ‘talking therapies’. The way we think about abilities, our character, behaviour, achievements, difficulties, our past and future, and ourselves about our world, our families, relationships, etc. can only be understood from our expressions in words.
With my counselling you get undivided attention to yourself, where you are listened to and supported to define your problems in your own words and focus on what you may wish to do next. I am a support service and sounding board when you are trying to sort through a particularly tough decision.
I am not off in some ivory tower. I am with you on the front lines of life, grappling with the core issues of our common existence.
